READ MICHAEL'S TESTIMONIAL

Michael: Let’s face it; the personal training industry is significantly saturated with experienced professionals available to help you achieve your fitness goals. With so many to choose from, it can be quite perplexing to find the right trainer for your fitness needs. Moreover, what exactly do you look for in a personal trainer? Hi, my name is Michael and this is an honest review of personal trainer Ingrid Dijoux.

Separation of goals

The bottom line is that personal trainers do need to make a living. They have personal goals they want to achieve, a family to feed, and expenses like the rest of us. When you look for a personal trainer, you want to make sure that your trainer separates his or her goals from your training program. You don't want to hire a trainer whose focus is on the next payment or one who constantly tries to convince you to recommend him/her to your friends and family. Ingrid's ability to allow her experiences and intrinsic motivation lead the way throughout my training was the icing on the cake. Her focus has always been on my self-development, my physical readiness, and workout efficiency.

Personality

Whenever you work with a personal trainer, you want to make sure that you are not treated as a customer. You want to be treated like a person and be around someone who makes you feel comfortable and trust that your trainer has your best interest in mind. Ingrid's ability to move beyond the traditional client/customer relationship is impeccable. She made me feel comfortable and most importantly my perception of her embodies a caring friendship.

Patience

Patience is one of those things that is often overlooked in a personal trainer/client relationship. The common perception is that trainers should be like military drill sergeants; screaming and yelling to get something accomplished. Adversely, this is not a character that you want your trainer to have. Ingrid understands that what works for one client may not work for another. As such, she was able to make on-the-fly modifications to my training to accommodate a pace that was comfortable for me.

Motivation

Your personal trainer's motivation should be related to your personal fitness goals, thus influencing your self-motivation which drives your ability to perform at your best. There are various forms of motivation, however, Ingrid embodies a form of motivation known in psychology as Intrinsic Motivation. When someone is intrinsically motivated, motivation comes from within for its inherent enjoyment or personal satisfaction, but not for materialistic rewards. Just as your trainer expects you to be motivated for each session, s/he should be motivated as well to coach you and together achieve new personal PRs. Ingrid embodies this; she was always fired up and ready to go, and her focus has always been directly related to the outcome of my training.

Summary

In summary, Ingrid's innate ability as a trainer made me feel comfortable and confident during my workout sessions. Even though the sessions were virtual, I often felt as though she was in the same room, right next to me, coaching me on a successful path towards my goals. She has always adapted to my workout style by making minor changes to maximize my full potential.
